Paulist Fr Bernard Campbell

On 5 September 2018, Paulist Father Bernard J. Campbell, joined our parish staff as Vice Rector. Fifty years ago last April, Fr. Bernie was ordained a priest by Archbishop John Maguire of the Archdiocese of New York during a Mass at our mother church, the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in New York City. He grew up in the Bronx, attending Holy Spirit Parish and School. He entered the Paulist novitiate in 1961 and made his first promises to the community on September 8, 1962. He earned his undergraduate 

Fr. Campbell spent more than 30 years as a Catholic campus minister, serving at the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at San Diego, the University of Texas at Austin, Clemson University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He also served as associate pastor of the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Grand Rapids, MI, and pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Horseshoe Bay, TX. Until today, Fr. Bernie lived most recently at the Paulist motherhouse in New York City. He has been on the Paulist mission band, leading parish missions called “The Questions Jesus Asked” and “Will Our Faith Have Children?”
