Day Trip to Assisi

Wednesday, November 7

Depart Termini at 7:58; Arrive in Assisi at 10:07.

We will take a bus up the hill to visit, hopefully in time to stop for cappuccino.

We will celebrate Mass at 11 AM at the Chiesa di Santa Chiara followed by a quick tour and then a visit to the Church of San Rufino. After that we will have pranzo at the Hotel dei Priori. Then we will go down the stairway to San Francesco Piccolino and Chiesa Nuova. We have booked a tour with a Franciscan Friar at 2:45 PM in the Basilica of San Francesco.

After the tour, we will make a choice: we can then go directly to the train station and take the 4:24 train back to Rome, arriving at 6:35 PM, OR we can take our time at the Basilica and then visit the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and take the 6:27 PM train back to Rome arriving at 8:32 PM. The total cost of the day is 100 euros, payable by November 4.

Once people sign up, we will get a sense of when we want to return back to Rome. Of course, part of the group can go back on the earlier train, and the other part can stay longer, but the decision will have to be made before November 2nd, so Fr. Greg can buy the tickets.

Contact  Fr. Greg to make a reservation.

These tours involve a great deal of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.  And don’t worry, there’s always a cappuccino break!
