Parish Bulletin for May 3, 2026, The Fifth Sunday of Easter

Masses for Children and Teens

On Sunday each month, we have Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Just before the Scripture readings, the children would be blessed and sent forth for their own Scripture and homily in Tara Hall. They will then re-join their families for the Offertory and remainder of the Mass. The next one is next Sunday, May 10, 10:30 AM. And once a month we also have a Sunday evening 5 PM Teen Mass: All Teens, Families and Adults are welcome. Homily, music, participation geared toward teens. Followed by refreshments and fellowship. The next one, which will the last one for this year, is also May 10 at 5:00 PM (17.00). Everyone is welcome to all of these liturgies.

The Prayer Request Book

Annual Paulist Fathers Appeal is the weekend of May 9/10, 2026

Since 1922, the Paulist Fathers have had the honor and privilege to serve the Catholic American Community in Rome, first at Santa Susanna Church, now at St. Patrick’s.   Today, Fr. Matt Berrios and Fr. Greg Apparcel continue that legacy of service and pastoral care to all of our parishioners and visitors, indeed, to all who enter our Church doors.

As Paulists, we are blessed to share the Good News with you week after week.  In a special way, the Paulist Fathers seek to connect with those who are searching for God in their lives and to reach out to those who have felt excluded or distant from our community.  We also seek to connect with those of other faith traditions, seeking the ways of peace together.  And finally, we help English-speaking pilgrims and visitors to have a spiritual-enriched experience in Rome.  We are blessed to do all these things in collaboration with all of you, our partners in mission.

In that spirit, we invite you to participate in this year’s Annual Paulist Appeal, which provides the much needed support for those Paulist Ministries that reach beyond the pews like our own Young Adults at St. Patrick’s Group and the Paulists’ Busted Halo that ministers to young adults coast to coast on the web and on the radio in the US.

Fr. Greg and Fr. Matt will be speaking about the Paulists and their own vocations at all the Masses the weekend of May 9 and 10.

The Annual Paulist Appeal also provides critical funding needed for vocation outreach and formation of future Paulist priests.  Finally, it helps us provide support for our Senior Fathers who have not lost their zeal for service!  Please see the pamphlets and special Paulist Appeal Giving envelopes that will be in all the pews in May. Thank you for your generous consideration of the 2026 Annual Paulist Appeal.  Your gift, no matter the size, makes a real difference and means the world to us.  Please know of our daily prayers for you!

Three First Communion Masses and Two Confirmation Masses in May

May is an extremely busy month with our parallel catechetical programs at St. Patrick’s Church.  We have three First Communion Masses, one for our Marymount Middle School students (May 2, yesterday), one for our Marymount elementary students (May 16, 10:30 AM) and one for our Religious Education Program students (May 30, 10:30 AM).  We also have two Confirmation Masses.  Our Marymount students will be confirmed on Saturday, May 16, at 5:30 PM, with Cardinal Peter Turkson as the presiding bishop. Our Religious Education students will be confirmed on Saturday, May 30 at 6:00 PM, with Cardinal James Harvey as the presiding bishop.  So please don’t be confused.  And please note that there will not be a Saturday 6 PM Vigil Mass on May 16 or 30, though you are welcome to come to the Confirmation Masses.

Rice Bowl 2026

This year our Ecumenical Lenten fund raising effort will direct its funds to support the Nourishing Minds Project, whose mission is to provide all primary school children in the Ekwendeni area of Malawi with a cup of porridge each school day with the additional concept of empowering the unemployed youth within this community-based project.  You may give your donation in the envelope provided at the Visitors Desk and return it to us by Easter.
