The 2024 St. Nicholas Serata for Charity is December 7, 2024
at the very beautiful Circolo Canottieri Aniene, Lungotevere dell’Acqua Acetosa, 119!! We have affirmed the two-fold purpose of the St. Nicholas Charity Serata: to raise money for charitable institutions in Rome and to build up and celebrate our community. Tickets are on sale this weekend at the Welcome Desk in the Vestibule. They are 100 Euros per person. Please note that we are sold out at this time, but we’re trying to obtain more spaces, so if you’re interested please contact Fr. Greg to get on our waiting list.
And here are this year’s charities:
Centro Astalli Refugee Center stands in solidarity with asylum seekers and refugees arriving in Italy to flee wars, persecution, violence, torture, and natural disasters. Our contribution will be of great help so that they can assist more refugees coming from Ukraine, the Middle East and Northern Africa with food, shelter, medicine and specialists. Raising awareness to the plight of refugees is also one of their goals.
Associazione Orma is a non profit organization, founded in the Roman area and created to offer support in the healthcare sector and in its various forms: training, prevention, services. With our contribution they will take care of the elderly with a program set up for the residents of the Centro Anziani in Prima Porta and other locations with medical screening for cardiological, dental and orthopedic needs. This is especially for those who do not have enough resources to monitor their health needs.
Jubilee Hospitality Center in Tara Hall at St. Patrick’s Church, which will complement the renovations being done to our restrooms and parish office in our vestibule. This includes: re-painting and prevention of damage due to humidity is needed, along with additional tables and chairs.
Consider purchasing or seeking donations for our Silent Auction in the areas of art, agriturismo, hotels, restaurants (get their menu, too), fashion, beauty products, specialty foods, book sets, a day at a spa or anything else that people would love to bid on. Ask Fr. Greg for Donation Request Letters in both English and Italian. Write to him at gapparcel@paulist.org. See more information and photos on our website. Buy your tickets early as we can only accommodate 140 persons!
Our next Children’s Liturgy of the Word
is November 24, at the 10:30 AM Mass. This is when the children are sent out for their own Scripture Readings and Homily in Tara Hall (below the Church) with Fr. Greg and parents and other parishioners to assist.
Our next Teen Mass
is Sunday, November 24, at 5:00 PM. All are welcome to all these Masses!
The Young Adults at St. Patrick’s Group
is a monthly gathering for Catholics in their 20s and 30s. These happen on the Third Tuesday of the Month. The next one is December 17. Led by Deacon Will Robbins, the group will meet for prayer at 6:00 PM in a special Church, followed by a social and guest speaker at 6:45 PM at a local tavern/restaurant. For more information, please write to Deacon Will Robbins at wrobbins@pnac.org. Following one US model, “Theology on Tap” here we are calling it Theology alla Spina. Tell your friends.
The Book of Remembrance
is placed in the vestibule of the Church during the month of November. We invite all of our parishioners, guests and visitors to inscribe the names of their deceased loved ones.
Stewardship Information:
If you missed our presentation on the financial needs of our Parish, please take one of our information envelopes at the Welcome Desk. Or just click on this link: https://stpatricksamericanrome.org/stewardship-letter-and-financial-information-for-st-patricks-church-from-father-matt/ It contains a letter from Fr. Matt, along with the 2024/2025 Budget and a Pledge Card. Keeping our community connected and sustainable takes each and every one of us. It is not easy to come to you in this way and ask for financial assistance, but we wouldn’t be asking unless we needed to do so. It is your caring and support that make this parish and all we do possible.
Financial Needs of St. Patrick’s:
We are grateful for the generosity of our parishioners and visitors. The American parish of St. Patrick’s does not receive financial support from the Vatican, the US or other religious institutions. We depend on the generosity of our parishioners and visitors to help us continue our ministries and weekly operating expenses. And so, we ask you to help us. Would you consider making a one time donation of 20 Euros (or $20 US) or more? You can give by going directly to our Donation page: https://stpatricksamericanrome.org/donate/
We appreciate whatever assistance you can give us. Thank you very much for your presence and for your generosity.
Interested in Learning about Being a Catholic??
Our new Christian Initiation Sessions begin soon. These sessions are designed for those who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, whether they are Catholic or not. You may desire to deepen your faith, receive the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation, or to learn how to become Catholic. Please write to Father Matt for more information: rector@stpatricksamericanrome.org
Please support the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center
on Via Nazionale, connected to St. Paul’s Within the Walls Episcopal Church. We are seeking to fulfill their Wishlist for items most in demand by homeless refugees and asylum seekers. They are asking for brand new items. For items such as clothing or sleeping bags they can also be used but need to be in excellent condition and cleaned. Please see the flyers at the Visitors’ Desk in the vestibule after Mass or go to this link: https://stpatricksamericanrome.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/For-our-Social-Action-Project-this-year-1.pdf
You can bring them to the weekend Masses and give them to Fr. Greg or Daniel. The final deadline for the objects will be December 1st, but we will be delivering them as the items come in. St. Patrick’s has long supported the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center and we are happy to continue to do so with this special project.
